Copy Cat Subway Bread and Meatball Sub Sandwich
Create the recipe for Subway bread that is soft and tasty,
Equipment
- 1 Stand Mixed with bread hook
- 1 Measuring spoons
- 1 Measuring cups
Ingredients
- 1 cup Warm water about 110deg
- 1 Tbsp Yeast
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1½ tsp Salt
- 4 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 2½ to 2¾ cups Flour all purpose will work but bread flour get best results
Instructions
- In the bowl for your stand mixer, add everything but the flour and let sit 5 to 10 min until yeast is fully active.
- Add 1 cup of the flour and mix with dough hook for 3 to 5 min, add additional cup of flour and mix until well combined. Continue adding flour in ¼ cup increments until a soft dough is formed. The dough should still stick to bottom of bowl but pull away from the sides. Let the dough mix for about 8 min.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. The dough should be very soft at this point. form it into a ball and place back in bowl cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 30min.
- After dough has risen turn out onto clean surface and divide into 4 pieces. Then roll each piece into long skinny loaves about 8 to 12 inches in length.
- Optional: At his point you can press into each loaf spices or cheese. The easy way to do this is to sprinkle on a surface the length of the roll and then lay roll onto it.
- Place the rolled loaves onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper leave 2 inches between each loaf.
- Cover loaves with piece of greased plastic wrap and let rise for about 1 hour.
- Towards the end of rising time preheat oven to 350℉. When loaves are ready bake in preheated oven for 25min.
- When loaves com out of oven baste them with butter and then cover with a dish towel to cool. This is important to help keep them soft.
- let loaves cool for min 30 min before cutting them to make your sandwich.
